We are looking for a Data Center Engineer – L1 to support day-to-day operations of the data
center environment. The role involves monitoring infrastructure, performing basic
troubleshooting, supporting hardware installations, and ensuring uptime of servers and
network devices. The ideal candidate should have foundational knowledge of data center
operations, networking, and system monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor data center infrastructure, servers, and network devices using monitoring
tools.
Perform first-level troubleshooting for hardware, network, and connectivity issues.
Escalate incidents to L2/L3 teams as per defined escalation matrix.
Assist in rack and stack activities including server installation, cabling, and labeling.
Perform routine health checks of servers, storage, and network equipment.
Maintain documentation of incidents, configurations, and maintenance activities.
Support patching, upgrades, and preventive maintenance activities.
Ensure data center access control and security compliance.
Monitor power, cooling, and environmental conditions in the data center.
Coordinate with vendors for hardware replacement and support activities.
Technical Expertise
Basic understanding of Data Center Infrastructure (rack, stack, cabling, power
distribution, cooling systems).
Knowledge of server hardware components such as CPU, RAM, RAID, storage drives,
and motherboard troubleshooting.
Familiarity with operating systems installation and basic administration (Windows /
Linux).
Basic networking knowledge including IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, DNS, DHCP,
and TCP/IP protocols.
Understanding of structured cabling and fiber connectivity in a data center
environment.
Experience with hardware installation, server mounting, and cable management.
Basic exposure to monitoring tools and ticketing systems for incident management. Ability to perform initial troubleshooting of servers, network devices, and connectivity
issues.
Basic knowledge of data backup and storage concepts.
Understanding of data center safety, security, and access control procedures.
Exposure to remote management tools (iLO / iDRAC / IPMI) is an added advantage.
Basic understanding of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or
Microsoft Hyper-V.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics / related
field
Diploma in IT / Networking / Hardware
Basic certification in Networking or Infrastructure such as:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
CompTIA Network+
CompTIA A+
Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
