Ace Rooms Ltd is a UK-based B2B travel technology company with over 16 years of experience in global hotel and transfer distribution. The platform enables travel agents and API partners to search live inventory, book hotels and transfers, and manage payments. The company is currently undergoing a full platform rebuild on Microsoft Azure, migrating from a legacy monolith to a modern, service-based architecture.

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Back End Developer to join the core engineering team and contribute to the ground-up rebuild of our hotel-distribution platform. The developer will work on a .NET service-based architecture hosted on Microsoft Azure, building APIs, data layers, and integrations that power both the customer-facing Angular frontend and partner API connections.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain back-end services using C# and .NET (ASP.NET Core).
• Design, build, and version RESTful APIs for frontend and third-party partner integrations.
• Implement and manage the Azure SQL database schema; write efficient, optimised T-SQL.
• Build and maintain the Redis-based availability and pricing layer; ensure SQL writes occur only at final stage.
• Integrate Azure Service Bus for asynchronous event handling between services.
• Configure and manage Azure API Management (APIM) for routing, security policies, and API versioning.
• Implement server-side payment validation, booking lifecycle management, and idempotency controls.
• Manage application secrets via Azure Key Vault; enforce parameterised queries and secure coding standards.
• Maintain and improve GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for deployment to Azure Web Apps.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and maintain clear documentation.

Essential Skills & Experience

• C# / .NET — Solid commercial experience building back-end services with ASP.NET Core.
• RESTful APIs — Designing and building APIs for SPA frontends and third-party integrations.
• Azure SQL / T-SQL — Schema design, query optimisation, and Entity Framework Core.
• Microsoft Azure — App Service, Redis Cache, Service Bus, Blob Storage, Key Vault, and APIM.
• CI/CD — GitHub Actions pipelines and Git-based feature-branch workflows.
• Data Exchange — High-volume XML / JSON handling for supplier and partner integrations.
• Security — Parameterised queries, server-side validation, secrets management, and GDPR awareness.
• Communication — Clear written and spoken English; ability to document technical decisions concisely.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in travel technology: bed banks, channel management, GDS, or supplier API connectivity.
• Familiarity with Azure AD B2C or Microsoft Entra for authentication and authorisation.
• Understanding of booking-platform concerns: idempotency, ledger integrity, and supplier resilience.
• Exposure to penetration testing scope and secure-by-design principles for financial platforms.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline — or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of commercial back-end software development experience.
