What is a Business Associate?

Business associates help their employers to acquire and retain customers. They follow sales leads and open up new avenues for the business to target and focus on customer relationship management. Business associates find and pursue possible leads in the hopes of finding new customers and interested parties. When new products launch, they inform existing customers and present them positively and excitedly.

Business associates answer questions and help solve problems to maintain customer satisfaction and track all sales and report new opportunities to management. Business associates believe in their company and have a passion for getting the services and messages in front of appropriate and desired audiences at all times. They share information at events and networking opportunities, work with upper management, and craft workable elevator pitches. After presenting to prospects and existing clients, they schedule follow-ups with interested parties. Business associates need a bachelor's degree in business management or administration.

Responsibilities for Business Associate

  • Conduct regular, standing meetings with customer executives and internal business partners.
  • Support efforts related to recruiting, employee development and training.
  • Develop, revise and update policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Prepare and submit intake forms for new small business contacts.
  • Provide support and advice to internal stakeholders on a range of policies, agreements and processes.
  • Work independently with key stakeholders to identify and address client needs in a collaborative approach.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned business unit(s), their goals, and key milestones.
  • Render judgments and make timely decisions in alignment with business objectives.
  • Recommend recovery strategies, options, and assist with the implementation of recovery solutions.
  • Work with leaders to embed team structures, role clarity, goal alignment and other measures.
  • Partner with leaders to develop people strategies to further their business objectives.
  • Oversee annual and/or major gift activities to support strategic plan.
  • Serve as first point of contact for customer relationship management.
  • Identify efforts that will have the greatest strategic impact.

Qualifications for Business Associate

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or computer science.
  • Strong leadership, time management, and critical thinking skills.

  • Skilled with maintaining and creating spreadsheets.
