Moved to Canada (Calgary) in Jan 2024 and have been trying to pivot from logistics/operations into data analytics. 6+ years in supply chain/customer ops, ~2 years studying SQL, Python, data modeling, BI tools, and building projects (automation, analytics, PostgreSQL/Python). Been applying/networking for ~6 months with little traction so far. Curious what helped others successfully break into the field, especially from ops/logistics backgrounds.

I recently was let go from a position at a tv production company earlier this month after only 3 weeks just because I wasn't a "good fit" right now, but also that I have potential in another role. In the final meeting, my boss said that she'd like to stay in touch and offer any help in my search, and we have. What would really help me is a referral letter, but I'm worried if I ask she will say no or ghost me for some reason. Should I still ask? Am I paranoid?
