I just heard about this huge pay increase for hotel workers in NYC. Making over $100k is incredible. The drawback, I think, is that it's because of being unionized. How do you feel about it... would it be worth the pay raise to be part of a union?

Green flag at work: your manager jumps in during a rush without being asked. No announcement. No fanfare. Just sleeves rolled up, on the floor, getting it done with the team. What's a green flag at your workplace that you genuinely appreciate?
Complaint from team members during first month. As the title says, I have recieved a complaint from an older woman I work with, regarding me not knowing how to do many of the tasks I have been assigned and not contributing enough. She has been working with the company for multiple years, this is my very first job and it's not even been 2 weeks. She has zero interest in engaging in a simple conversation nor showing me how to improve. Just complain. I'm considering bringing up to Management.
At my store, regular employees are docked by the minute, but a system error lets new hires get a flat 8 hours of pay without clocking in. They get paid for a full shift even when they leave early or start late. It’s killing morale for the rest of us. Is this worth bringing up to management, or should I just keep my mouth shut?
The era of pretending work is always fine is over. Retail and hospitality professionals are some of the hardest working people in any industry and it's okay to say some days are genuinely tough. What's one thing you wish people outside this industry understood about your job?
I'm being asked to relocate for a promotion opportunity, and the company is offering a relocation package, but it feels light for what the move actually costs. I want to push back, but I also don't want to seem like I'm nickel-and-diming when they just offered me a step up. How do you negotiate relocation without killing the goodwill?
I think a lot of hospitality workers would gladly pay union dues if it meant consistent raises and better job security. This industry can feel unpredictable otherwise.
Let me answer your question with a question….what do you see being the downside of being part of a union ?
Agree. I think this is a huge win for the workers.
Unionizing is the way to go!
