Curious how Fidelity employees in Boston are feeling about this. Boston has some of the worst traffic in the country. Time to move on?
How do you tell your current employer that you need a 5 days off to do an in person evaluation that could possibly lead to another job? Can they fire you for even pursuing it? Just curious what some repercussions could be.
I was laid off in March and put out over 400 applications, so I recently accepted a job with a $20k hit for the rest of the year to be increased $10k at the top of 2027 plus a 5% bonus so a $10k salary hit but now some of the higher salary positions are starting to call and want to interview, What should I do as I really want to work closer to home or even remote and if any of these higher salaries offer remote with their offer should I take it and leave the one I accepted and am working now?
I have a rockstar employee that I unfortunately have no levers to reward for their contributions and I’m worried about losing them. Raises and bonuses are fixed company wide and there are no roles to promote them to. Anything I can do to help show them I appreciate their great work?
Do you like your manager?
Nah. Free booze and a steak is a nice way to say thank you to the team.
Just don’t attend. Rarely are these mandatory. Some people love them.
Too true - it does require writing skills and taking notes. We call that a brag sheet that each of us keep to write our annual review.
Mandatory or not, you can recognize and team build during work hours. The company is stealing your free time and calling it a bonus. You already spend more time with your coworkers than your family so unless they're paying OT or I can bring my family, thanks but no.
Exactly. Leave the office early for happy hour so you get home the same time. My office wants to do something on a Sunday. Yeah, nah.
Amen!!!!!!!!!
You’re in a people business, not a task business. If you don’t like this you should take a job in a field where you do not interact with people
PwC1 it’s a good opportunity for you to self-reflect and decide whether this line of work is appropriate for you
As long as they’re not mandatory. I have no problem with them being scheduled, but I’m not going to go frequently unless I particularly enjoy spending time with that group. It is good to have them every now and then to build the connection with your colleagues.
I have no lives after.
lol the way i laughed at this because im never available for those i get off work i go home and work on my own business.
I’ll take your place….
Amen
