I recently participated in a campus placement process for a Software Tester position, and I’d like to share my experience:
First Round: Aptitude, Verbal, and Coding
The process kicked off with an aptitude, verbal, and coding test. The aptitude section included logical reasoning and problem-solving questions, while the verbal part tested grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary. The coding test required solving problems that assessed my programming skills and logical thinking. This round was designed to gauge my overall analytical abilities and coding proficiency.
Second Round: Virtual Technical Interview
Following the initial round, I progressed to a virtual technical interview. This round was centered on evaluating my technical knowledge and understanding of software testing principles. I was asked to explain various types of testing, such as functional and regression testing, and to design test cases for specific scenarios. This round tested my ability to apply my technical knowledge practically.
Third Round: In-Person Technical Interview
The in-person technical interview delved deeper into my technical expertise. I discussed past projects, particularly how I identified and reported bugs. I was also given hypothetical testing scenarios to evaluate my problem-solving approach. This round was a comprehensive assessment of my technical skills and communication abilities.
Final Round: HR Interview
The final round was an HR interview with scenario-based questions. I was presented with various situational problems and asked how I would handle them. These scenarios focused on interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and adaptability. The aim was to understand how I would approach real-world challenges and fit into the company’s work environment.
I’m currently awaiting feedback and am optimistic about the outcome. Overall, the process was a valuable learning experience and provided insight into what is expected in a Software Tester role.
