      A Creative Role Interview

      Jul 23, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Urban Ladder in Jun 2015

      Interview

Their overall hiring process is flawed. They don't know what they want from a candidate. First they made me work on a task for two days. After reviewing they came back to me after a "month". Later I spoke with multiple people on phone(this took 2 weeks). Then they asked me to come down to Bangalore (they didn't even pay for the expenses). I met two people and some other person whom I'm supposed to meet wasn't available in the office. If that is the case then why can't they just do a Skype interview? The whole "process" took them 3 months and how can they expect someone to wait/co-ordinate with such hiring process for 3 months? Later when they called up for another round of interview(this was the 6th or 7th person I was going to talk to), I bluntly rejected. Why can't they simply conduct all the interviews at the same time? The co-oridnation between HR and rest of the team is pretty awful. Most of the people I spoke to during hiring process looked like they have been forced to sit in the hiring process. They simply lacked interest.

      Question 1

How do you see yourself in next 5 years? - This is most cliched question ever.

Hi! Very sorry to hear about your experience. Certainly not how we want to treat our employees or candidates. We agree that our interview process involves multiple interactions over a slightly longer period of time. However, we assure you that the process is very tightly controlled and constantly optimized to make sure our candidates have a great experience, irrespective of whether we hire him/her or not. We treat hiring as a two way evaluation process that gives the opportunity to the candidate as well to assess fit from his/her perspective and also understand the organization, people and the culture better. That said, clearly, you have been unhappy and we'd love to talk to you and understand how we could have made it better for you. Do write in to hr@urbanladder.com with details. As an organization, candidate experience is a very critical element of our hiring process. Once again, apologies that your experience interviewing with us was not up to your expectations. We hope to close these gaps in our hiring soon. Looking forward to your email.
