Pros

Good work-life balance (with less work, most of the times) free food free booze, every month

Cons

not much can be expected with a dummy leader in India office, where most decisions are taken by old timers. The politics and favoritism can be seen in every aspect, including promotions and hikes. You are a yes man to manager and you get your promo! Some people, who are partially talented, are treated as Gods, and promoted every other cycle... where is fairness? No good technical work, lot of maintenance and support work done out of India. Only few teams receive the applauds, extreme of biases No point talking to the useless HR, in office only for a show off. Anything feedback you provide to HR, does not stay confidential - i think way too transparency in this aspect only. Goes straight to the person the feedback is about, increasing the rift. One of the worst experiences! Inexperienced and arrogant folks promoted to manager positions, from Admin to engineering. Newly promoted managers way too insecure of their position and no experience of team management, still favored by the leadership, so you cant say a word. Exciting things like Hackathon, continue to stop coz people might become productive. even the solutions suggested during hackathons never get implemented. All fun exists in terms to parties, but none when it comes to work.

Pros

* There are few good projects, but the flip side here is that anybody who goes and cries to the MD will get promised a stint to work in one of these 2-3 good projects. Don't know how all the engineers will get absorbed in such few good projects. * There is free food and lots of parties. Here again, it has become an overdose of parties. Some Managers complain that the MD and HR force them to let their teams participate in such events, even to the extent of compromising the project related work. * Benefits are looked into frequently and revised to help the employees periodically

Cons

* The executives who visit the India office will only get to see the 'amazing work culture' on display, but it is all stage managed. While the intent is to show a case of 'work hard, party harder', most of the teams are only doing the latter. Some Managers worry more about what food to eat and where, than worry about the career prospects of their engineers. I must have had just 3-4 1:1s with my Manager during my entire 2.5 year tenure there. * The work culture is now mainly steeped in favoritisim and politics. HR is there just for show, it is the MD who runs the business. It is very easy to game the system there since all you need to do is to run crying to the MD and whatever you need will mostly happen, like salary hike, promotion, change in team etc.. * Most of us in the team did not have enough quality work. But that did not stop our Manager from bringing in more senior engineers ! It's almost like they are trying to see what other ways to while away time. I think I know what happened here - my Manager must have cried to the MD about lack of senior engineers in the team and the rest is history. I guess even Managers must have learnt to game the system now. * Some people who left have been allowed to continue using the video conferenceing facility. But when I left, it was flatly refused stating company policy. It was probably my mistake that I went to my no use Manager instead of going to the MD. * There are some people in senior management who are allowed to work part-time. This is unheard of in a startup in India. It's all because of the close relationship this person has with the MD than anything else. Word on the floor is that if you need anything from the senior management, route the request through this person

Pros

Free Food Beer on fridays Goodies from time to time Good work life balance

Cons

Spineless and non technical directors ..The politics and favouritism can be seen in each area. Zoom become a 19B valuation company and these guys are still at may be 300M and million and they keep on lying to the employees we will go somewhere. Worthless Old timers who are mere boot lickers who keep on roaming whole day rule with support from weak leadership. Career growth depends on the relationship with manager. If you are in good terms with manager you will get everything. Concentration of decision making power to very few people and stagnant work. Most of the core work is in US and they dont care about india
