The upper management plays favoritsm. While my tenure at ElasticRun, I came accross multiple instances where in other tech departments had hikes in the range of 100-150% while some had only 10-30%. This was all because of the inexperienced upper management team. The team frequently pushed harder tasks with impossible deadlines, one such director was famous for instructing the team leads to give less time for an employee than required so that they may push themselves. A lot great people to work with here but people who have little to no knowledge but are high up the hierarchy and have been with the organisation for too long make it a place where someone's career might die/stall.
