Pros

Good brands, amazing NYC office

Cons

Everything else....the management here couldn't care less about its employees - the people, humans who come to put in work every day. You will never hear Pernod Ricard's management say it's people are its greatest asset or that it values its people - it doesn't. There is no sense of community, team, trust, security at Pernod Ricard. It's a cold, European-run company. If you are a white straight man, you'll move to the top fast. If you aren't, well you'll have to work 300Xs harder just to be noticed. Constant restructures. Don't let anyone tell you it's behind us. We've heard that through at least four restructures in as many years. Promotions and layoffs are not based on merit. They'll fire someone, tell them they don't have a place for them, and open up a position with the same exact title and responsibilities the next day. HR is useless and powerless 'Better Balance' or what most companies call diversity and inclusion is not about diversity or inclusion at all. It's about protecting the European men who run this company. The company does not know how to build great brands. It's a sales-driven organization.

Are we selling Pepsi or Alc Bev?

Pros

-the people -office happy hours -product allowance -benefits package

Cons

-constant re-organizations because the Sr. Leadership keeps trying to apply the traditional CPG model to the Alc Bev model (one that has a three-tier distribution system). It hasn’t been working and it’s showing. -all the people who know anything about the industry have either left or are getting ready to leave. So now what’s left are people who don’t understand the realities of the industry. -The CMO, will just leave this here.

Pros

If you are a hard working, intelligent, and driven individual stay far far way especially if you are an American citizen. This does not mean that Pernod is a bad place to work and certainly if you are the type of person that just wants to clock in and out then this is a great place to work. The people are for the most part nice and pleasant to be around. There are great perks amazing happy hours, product allowance (though less than others in the industry), and fun trips depending on your team. Good 401k matching, health care and dental. Their are some great employees

Cons

Place is a bit of a joke. Some of the people are almost insultingly stupid. Company has some really misguided missions/brands. Pay is way below market levels for non-marketing roles. The nicety of the corporate culture gets in the way of making the right decisions. Upper level management is European only. Upper level management also each send their departments in different direction because of poor communication between the individuals. There are some great employees, but they have a habit of leaving. There is a reason that the company has a very high turn over rate and so many openings. I feel bad throwing HR under the bus because they are deep in over their heads that they are destined to fail, but in many ways they sum up the rest of the company. They are ineffective but nice enough people whose only purpose is fill out a corporate cog, but ending up slowing down the functional part of the machine. There are a lot of issues but lets not get carried away. If you want a dynamic career this is not the place for you. If you want to stay in middle management for a long time and do nothing than you have a promising future at Pernod Ricard USA.
