Seigrid lived nearby, and hence the office was always accessible to her, even during the lockdown. Her priority was to ensure that her team members received all the support they needed. She went to office until her team received all the resources required for WFH, and waited for her team to settle down before she commenced WFH. But it was not enough to just help set it up — it was equally important to educate the team on the expectations, challenges and opportunities that came with. They needed to know whom to contact when, and for what, if they needed help. Last but not the least, she believes that relationships and trust are pivotal to the success of a WFH model. In terms of workplace, she insists that one allocate a small space in their home for them to be comfortable doing their tasks, backing up ISP, and carrying out business as usual. Collaboration, consistent monitoring, tracking and most importantly, the availability of tools for communication — these ensure smooth operations. She was keen to set a positive example by embracing the change. One should always be flexible, patie
Dawn was in her 5th month of pregnancy, managing her team, when the nation-wide lockdown was announced. There was much to manage while setting up WFH, especially in terms of logistics, but her team fully co-operated and ensured that she did not stress herself too much. Her husband, away at work abroad, didn’t make it until 2 weeks before her delivery. Giving birth during a pandemic also added the risk of infection, but both the mother and child emerged healthy and safe from the procedure. Going back to work meant updating herself —on at least 4 months of emails. She often felt that she was incapable of doing justice to her work, or her son. But with help from family and work mates, she quickly adapted. Dawn believes that maternity breaks are very essential for the physical and emotional well-being of any mother. She recommends that as a working mother, one must never forget to assess their own well-being. Being a first-time mom can be very overwhelming, but with patience and some help, one can learn. #WomensDay #March8th #OmegaHealthcare #WomenOfOmega #Motherhood
When Sruthy went on her maternity leave, they were only 84 days. She went through a lot of dilemma whether to pursue a career or to focus on her two young kids. Thanks to the encouragement and support from her husband, family and her immediate manager, she steadily bounced back. When she returned, she first invested in herself – by taking up a certification course, and felt proud to have successfully completed it. Sruthy believes that once you become a mother, it is all about balancing and prioritizing — when to focus on work and when to focus on family. This often means that a working mother may have to pass on a travel opportunity or even a promotion. But that’s fine as it’s your decision. Sruthy, who joined Omega in 2006 fresh out of college, is now Associate Director- HR. She never let her personal responsibilities stop her from pursuing her career and has been instrumental in implementing many organization-wide technological transformations from HR, in addition to launching multiple initiatives aimed at improving employee experience. #WomensDay #March8th #OmegaHealthcare #W
