Pros

there are honestly no pros working for this nepotistic actuarial team of this company

Cons

favoritism, nepotism - all the employees who had joined in the initial phases around 2000-2010 are still around and they create all sorts of problems for the new joiners, irrespective of their past experience and designation. The top guy is the worst leader you might want to work for, he doesnt believe in employees falling sick and hates any work from home, I know of people who havent got a single work from home in all their time at this worst work place. All the other leaders are hogh on nepotism too, they have together created an ecosystem where by no merit is ever recognised. People who had immpeccable track records have been harassed to leave and post their leaving they are categorised a "incompetence" as their reason for leaving/letting go. Pls all junior actuarial candidates stay away from this toxic place, there is definitely not a lot of learning here, nor is there any dignity plus this place is high on nepotism alone, if they pay you 40%-50% extra on your current compensation believe me they will ensure they make you work atleast 200% more than your current work hours, this is that place which has scant regard for fellow human beings, all toxicity driven from the very top, even the HR wont help you if you complain. Most of the harassed employees who never found any support from the HR leave with a bitter taste and later many of them have filed harassments cases against their managers. Quite a few managers in this worst work place are dealing with such cases, but they have no remorse.

Pros

Competitive Salary, good onshore teams

Cons

1. Very bad upper management who refuses to listen to anything and think they’re know-it-alls. 2. You only get promoted if you manage to lick manager’s boot 3. Highly incompetent people sitting as Assistant and Deputy Managers who’re not even fit to work with incompetent qualifications. 4. No word of appreciation. Only more work is allocated if you’re good. 5. Blantant Favoritism, so much so that even the country head is aware and supports it.

Pros

I am currently working (4.5 years) and also searching for a job opening outside. Worked both in Gurgaon and Bangalore locations. I hope this review is anonymous !!!! Pros: Office facilities- comfortable and well-maintained office, insurance and other employee Benefits are better than other companies, Pay (pro as well a con). But in few months (may be a year later), a smart person would definitely realise money and benefits is not everything.

Cons

Quality of work- you will quickly realize you are doing dumb or very close to dumb work/assignments. You may enjoy for some time because you are now paid more for an easy/no brainer job- but a year later you would realise your skill-set has gone for a toss!!! - trust me finding another job will now be difficult with no learning in xl. Politics and respect- Politics is everywhere, not just in Xl. I think here its little extra and the respect a new joiner would get is pathetic. The attitude of old timers is intolerable (majority manager & above have grown within XL and I strongly believe they don’t know outside world). Lot of sugar coating happens in a team gathering or large town halls but when it comes to one on one there is always a different face. Job satisfaction and peace of mind: There are fewer good roles and sensible managers. if you happen to work for them you are extremely lucky. But in majority of cases you won’t have the job satisfaction and that is when you would STRONGLY REALISE MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING. Paper policies: On paper policies looks very good, but many are left for the manager to decide e.g. work from home. Managers would not agree work from home, just show attitude and would expect you to beg. Common!! When there is a policy and when there is no problem with work delivery why can’t you just let people utilize the policy? Now AXA has taken over but I believe the teams are going to behave the same way, because I don’t see the old timers going any where. i worked for operations and little less than a year in finance and the review applies for both.
