Pros

Even the part time pay at UPS is phenomenal, almost enough to live on as a single adult with no dependents. The benefits gained after a year are also great, including full health insurance and $10 co-pays. Being on the inside will also get you a leg up into a full time position as a driver if you want it.

Cons

If the managers suck (and even one terrible manager can do this) it's not worth the stress and physical danger you will be in. You may end up risking your life, and this job isn't worth that. At lower seniority levels you may also be laid off at any time, making the great pay that we get almost irrelevant. If you can stick it out and have a good management team, it gets good, but only because of seniority pay increases and more job security. There are no opportunities to advance from this position except laterally into a driver position and very rarely a part time supervisor (and you lose your benefits in the latter case).

Pros

As a fresher its a good place to start but get out from the place after a year

Cons

HR Team - These people are the face of any organization and reflect the values and culture of that place, but at UPS Pune these people completely lack the people skills, will turn your induction session into a threatening session (Specially the Lead of HR or whatever the person is who thinks he owns the org), no introduction to company culture, lack basic communication and interaction skills. Employee Benefits and Culture- They will brag throughout about how they pay the higher Basic Salary and apart from that there’s nothing they can talk about. There’s no work culture be prepared for donkey work following what your TLs and Supervisors ask to do. If you have the mentality or skill of buttering you are eligible for a promotion vis ijp’s only. No leaves until you beg extremely, If doing wfo you have limited time to have your food which is inhuman practice. Cab facilities are there but they are the worst and poorly managed. Infact refrain joining this organisation even if you’re not employed and value your inner peace.

Pay, free benefits

Pros

I get paid 21 an hour but during regular season we only work about 20 hours a week which isn’t much at all. You do get free healthcare and dental and vision all those benefits for free after 9 months.

Cons

Hours suck during regular season and supervisors always trying to be someone.

Pros

Fast upward progression if you have drive. Work on your own all day and constantly out in public and in the world instead of an office. Only way I know to make $120,000-$160,000, not even including 100% free insurance for my family, without a degree.

Cons

Hot truck in summer - 130 degrees in front and 150ish in back of delivery truck. 340 safety methods to ALWAYS be aware of and actively using. Supervisors go out and secretly observe drivers to make sure they’re practicing all company methods.

Pros

Decent pay for what it is, Tuition reimbursement, Blue collar relatable coworkers, Fairly laxed for what it is as long as you show up e.g. People smelling like weed, and drinks from the night before (Or the day of) wasn't uncommon. Just about everyone has headphones in, etc... Part time supervisors were mostly cool in my experience as a Loader, even if they tended to be young and inexperienced (Full disclosure I'm younger myself so it was probably a case of being relatable). You won't need a gym membership as long as you work here.

Cons

The Union is worthless, don't expect anything to go in your favor. The work conditions are super sketchy (Gloves are a must and I'd recommend a back brace and knee pads). I can't' count the number of times hazardous material spilled in a truck and they still had me in there unloading breathing in god knows what. Mostly people are "cliqued up" like it's High School. Favoritism is EVERYWHERE (Whites looking out for Whites, Blacks looking out for Blacks, Latinos looking out for Latinos, etc...). Fulltime supervisors in my experience were mostly not good people. Frequently not given breaks or had breaks cut short by supervisors which is ILLEGAL. Supervisors will be constantly pressuring you to leave early (It's incumbent on you to push back or file a grievance if you have too because if you're a part-timer in the union you're guaranteed 3 1/2 hours. Even if they send you some home early you're still guaranteed that 3 1/2 hours).
