Our Brain & Biases! The worldview we have is more perception than facts. It is because the human BRAIN is essentially A LAYERED FILTER that processes only about 40 pieces of info from about 11 million pieces it is exposed to at any given moment. These perceptual filters form our worldview. In doing this it also forms unconscious biases. And this impacts everything we do! Imagine the dangers of such unconscious biases in workplaces. At Max Life, as we strive to build a diverse & inclusive workplace, it is important for our employees to be aware of these biases which affect decision making & hinders trust. Kalpana T, Parity Consulting, led an engaging webinar on The Hidden & The Unknown biases. Overcoming these require conscious effort. + Become aware of your bias & worldview + Combat stereotypes by receiving information objectively + Draw inferences with empathy towards the diversity around + Consciously choose to be inclusive By proactively managing our responses to diversity, we build healthy relationships at work that can positively impact performance, engagement & culture.

There has been much buzz on how the pandemic can be a game changer for ‘Work’ as we have known it so far – especially for women. From managing her household, to handling her kids and then pursuing her professional ‘paid work’, the lockdown has brought the possibility of couples sharing household responsibilities more evenly. The Women of Max Life Insurance had some very engaging and candid virtual discussions earlier this month led by Irani Srivastava Roy, Seema Lakhtakia, Tulanahina Maity Pandey and Ritika Chopra. With 1884 female employees covered and 12 video chat sessions, the topics discussed were numerous, ranging from the challenges of WFH, their familial commitments, kitchen recipes, home schooling of kids, to, ideas on adapting the cultural shift. Also a big shout out to Aman Sharma for his help with the set-up. With Max Life Insurance in the Top 25 Best Workplaces in BFSI, 2020 (recognised by Great Place To Work Institute, India), our women employees are leading the efforts to build a caring and collaborative workplace. #YouAreTheDifference
