But there’s more. Following Philips’ pledge to deliver 15% of total revenues from circular solutions by 2020, van Houten is eyeing an even bigger sustainability goal: “I want 100% by 2025.”

Philips has been recognized in BCG’s 2018 ranking of top 50 global innovators. “We’re up 30 places versus the previous year, to 49th, according to the Boston Consulting Group’s prestigious worldwide survey. Philips plans to relocate its North American headquarters from Andover to Cambridge, bringing with it about 2,000 employees. Philips CEO Frans van Houten reveals that the idea is to move the Massachusetts operations closer to more software talent, to startups, and to the company’s local university and hospital partners, such as MIT and Massachusetts General Hospital.
