Pros

Reliable paycheck every two weeks Very difficult to get fired World class benefits (401k, HSA, discounts, relocation, etc. Good work life balance It’s a great place to start your career especially as an intern to gain experience. Great opportunities for travel If you don’t like your manager you will probably have a new one within a year

Cons

You will probably not be recognized or appreciated for your contributions. It’s like crabs in a barrel, you have to be very intentional about finding a good mentor. It really is sink or swim. You have to switch teams every 2 years to get a substantial raise. Otherwise it is 2-7% annually. Very immature and unprofessional upper management and leadership at most sites. You probably wouldn’t believe the types of things that go on at this company, especially at k level and up. HR is not there to help you, they are there to prevent litigation from occurring. They advocate for seek speak and listen but will absolutely retaliate against you for doing so. Boeing is no longer an engineering firm, it’s a business and most people strive for middle management positions.

Pros

Great benefits Good PTO hours per year + company shutdown Work can be satisfying enough depending on the personality AI is around but push is for responsible use vs just AI slop Probably one of the better DoD companies to work for from what I've heard, though

Cons

Heavy manager-dependent experience for work performance reviews and career progress. Unblocking oneself can be insufferable sometimes Pay isn't as competitive all the time Bad interview Process Upper Management does not listen to employees

Pros

Great benefits at Boeing and that’s about it

Cons

Upper management does not listen and there really isn’t much upward mobility. Many people aren’t motivated or care about the cause which is frustrating. Work life balance is mid, with the consistent need to work OT due to poor planning

Mixed Environment

Pros

Mixed environment. Old school engineering teams from 777 days and prior are thinning out, the people and skills that were the backbone of making Boeing successful. If you are lucky to work in one of these teams you will learn a lot.

Cons

Replacing the old school teams is a bureaucracy of middle management and project managers that act as intermediaries for upper management that need basic information fed to them in stoplight charts. Red is bad, yellow is caution, green is good. Anything deeper that requires the management to expose thier lack of skill so they start yelling and telling you had bad you are, you are not a team player, etc. The original 777 took 5 years to develop a clean slate airplane. 777X (a derivative of the 777) started in 2013, was supposed to be done in 2019, and won't be delivered until 2027 if they are lucky, 9 years longer than the original. This is pure and simply because of all the middlemen who don't add value. These middlemen didn't exist before. As a new hire out of college I had meetings will Alan Mullaly. Today's Boeing the leaders are layers away, hiding behind the middlemen. This leads to politics, CYA, you name it.
