Pros

* job security * least work load * awesome township with all facilities like 200 bed hospital, gym, swimming pool, market * free housing, electricity and water supply + free maintenance * commutation time <15 min walking * 100+ days of leave per year+ paternity/maternity whatever applicable * you would not be denied leave when it concerns your family. Taking 20 days leave for marriage of your cousin is common

Cons

* might have to do night shift * slow growth rate * irrational managers * for your daily life, you have to deal with government employees. Dealing with HR takes most of your time. but then it is all done in the working hours, so your family time is not killed * you would be posted in remote locations, so you won't have access to theatres, Pubs, bars, high class restaurant. so no sophisticated urban life. * internet srevie provider would be BSNL * you have to deal a lot with local personnel, which would be villagers * all you shopping impulses have to be met by e-commerce

Pros

Fixed good salary, good bonus, medical facility for dependants. Lots of intrest free loans are available.

Cons

Engineers should not join this firm coz if u are enthusiastic and want value addition it will never happen, no appreciation for your innovation or new ideas, - transfer policy and rotation policy are very very very bad, seniors and upper mgt ppl are very insular, -political links will be required for good postings, HR people will never consider your genuine problems even if you suffer a lot or die, - if you are posted in a non-family station i.e. in Himalayas or other tough family then be prepared to stay away from your family for more than 10 years may be.. Its like you will not have a chance to have a social life for 10 years and your family and you can suffer and if you will oppose a lot then you may be shifted or transferred to some other desert like location and no consideration for your hard work even after serving sincerely for 5 years or more ... - no scope for designing or applying any basic concept of engineering because you ll be very with excel sheets using addition and subtraction options (which a class 9 student can also perform)... - if your wife is working in any govt firm then never choose this company coz they ll never let you to live with your family. - its best for people who are very adjusting and comprimising in nature .. compromise includes social, professional etc. - if once you are in dis firm you will not be able to leave it even if you are dissatified very much coz the time we ll realize dat its not good firm to learn in by the time you ll be having lots of loan which ll not let you take risk by leaving the job.. - crores of rupees are spent on training which are outdated and mere boring PPT which is cliched...

Pros

Work culture, salary and a matured management. Have lot of concern for employee welfare. Regularly hold interaction with employees to bring in improvement, a continuous process in the organisation. Promotions are time bound.

Cons

Employees do not consider HR also a part of the organisation and always criticise HR. Always not possible to post the employees as per their choices. Lot of dead wood has been accumulated.
